I think you just have to try and restart it.

I try to turn the spreader on and it just beeps and flashes a red light at me.
First thing you can try is just go to the back, unplug it, plug it back in.
Check that connection to see if that makes a difference.

There could also be like a chunk of salt or something stuck right at the end of the chute before it goes to the spreader.
If it keeps fighting you, just bring it in.
